During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes tremendous changes — building tissues, nurturing the baby’s growth, supporting breast development, and preparing for milk production. The body receives abundant nutrients to sustain both the mother and the growing child.
After delivery, however, these reserves begin to deplete. The mother experiences physical fatigue, hormonal fluctuations, and internal imbalances due to the strain of childbirth. These changes can lead to several postnatal challenges such as:
Muscle laxity following vaginal delivery
Ayurveda emphasizes that the postnatal period (known as Sutika Kaala) — traditionally considered the first 6 weeks after delivery — is a vital phase for both mother and baby. This is the time to rebuild strength, restore hormonal balance, and rejuvenate the body and mind.
Through holistic Ayurvedic therapies, herbal formulations, diet, and rejuvenating massages, our postnatal care programs aim to:
 • Prevent postpartum complications
Our Postnatal Care Program is a thoughtfully designed combination of traditional Ayurvedic therapies that focus on restoring the mother’s physical and emotional well-being while nurturing the baby’s growth and development. Each therapy is customized according to the mother’s Prakriti (body constitution), Dosha imbalance, and specific postnatal condition.

This treatment involves the application of warm herbal poultices (Kizhis) for pain relief and stress management. Depending on the need, different types of Kizhis are used:
A revitalizing herbal body bath using a blend of Ayurvedic herbs that helps rejuvenate the body, enhance skin tone, and promote relaxation. The bath is preceded by Abhyangam (oil massage), a herbal body scrub, and a gentle milk bath to deeply cleanse and nourish the skin.
A soothing face massage using herbal oils and natural ingredients to hydrate, cleanse, and rejuvenate the skin. This enhances natural glow, improves complexion, and supports postnatal skin health.
The scalp is gently massaged to improve blood circulation, relieve stress, and prevent postpartum hair fall.
This is followed by Thalam, where a medicated herbal paste or oil mixture is applied on the crown of the head to calm the mind, reduce anxiety, and promote better sleep. It helps maintain the mother’s emotional and mental balance during this sensitive phase.
A gentle and restorative therapy where a sterile cotton swab soaked in medicated oils or organic ghee is placed in the vaginal region. This treatment strengthens tissues and muscles, reduces postnatal discomfort, prevents infections, and promotes faster healing after delivery.
A traditional postnatal practice where a long cotton cloth is carefully wrapped around the abdomen for 5–6 hours after the bath. This helps realign organs displaced during childbirth, support posture, tone abdominal muscles, and stabilize the nervous system. It also helps the mother feel more supported and comfortable while holding or feeding the baby.
Gentle Ayurvedic baby massage improves circulation, strengthens muscles and bones, supports digestion, and promotes healthy growth. The post-massage herbal bath soothes the baby, enhances sleep quality, and builds immunity.
